Volume XIV #5

Crumbs from my jar . . .
This is a couple of weeks late, but I'm still packing and unpacking jars from the May 1 auction. Yes, it was that many jars. Although there were quite a few pieces purchased for friends, I still came home with way too many. Why? It was definitely a buyers auction. You should have been there!

CHARLIE SNYDER AUCTION RESULTS
I do not have results of all the jars, to be honest it was too depressing to write down many of the too-cheap prices, but I think many of the more interesting jars are covered. This list will be added to as I hear from more collectors who are sharing the prices paid. If you went and can send me a list of some of the prices, it would be appreciated. Names are not shared of who bought what or how much they paid. The self-portrait jar did not meet the reserve, the only jar with a reserve. If you are interested in finding out more about The Don and Norma Winton Self-Portrait jar, I can put you in contact with Kevin Snyder.

More pictures to the image gallery over the next few weeks. Kent Mickelson has been gracious in letting me use his images on the web site and thanks to several collectors for sending pictures after they got home! Here are a few selected pieces.

~MORE AUCTIONS~
Over the past few weeks there have been auctions that have taken place, auctions that were mysteriously called off and one auction that is still ongoing. How do you find out at the last minute? Read the Collectibles.About.com forums. There is one auction that is coming to a close this week and has a couple of my Holy Grails.. not sure if I have enough cash left after the Snyder auction, but I will be trying for a couple. Hake's jars include Herman and Katnip, Little Audrey, Baby Huey to name only a few. Any one of these jars would be an amazing addition to a collection.

~WALLY AMOS~
As many of you know, I love advertising jars and have quite a large collection of them. I don't collect all the new Coke jars or the new M & M jars that have come out over the past few years, but other than that, if it's advertising I either want it or have it! So it was pretty exciting to get a note from Wally about a new jar coming out later this summer. You might remember the Famous Amos cookies, there were several jars that were licensed by them. Wally has a new cookie company in Hawaii, Wally Amos Chip & Cookie. There will be several jars in the special collection and I understand that Annette Ricci (who was involved in the making of those great Keebler jars) is involved in the project. When I hear -- you will!

~SELLERS?~
Do you have a website that sells cookie jars, are you on eBay with a store? Or do you sell on Bonanzle, Etsy, TIAS or Ruby Lane? Want some free advertisement? Let me know your website address and I'll share it with other collectors.
Here are a few on my check every few days list:
- Tony Burns has a presence on eBay, I originally met Tony and his wife years ago at one of the shows. I've purchased from him several times and have always been more than satisfied with purchases.
-
Red Huston doesn't have a storefront on eBay, but sells quite often. As I've said before, when Red talks, people listen, so if you find something of his you want to purchase, it will be as described and it will be shipped good enough that it can withstand a drop from a three story building. Uh, not that I recommend you try this -- but just saying .. .

Carolann Williams has been on Bonanzle for a while now. She says jars don't sell as often as on eBay, but it's steady and she gets to set the price she wants for the jars. Carolann has been a collector for many years and someone reminded just a few weeks ago about the child's fainting couch on the top of the car episode coming back from Nashville. Yes, it's that Carolann.

Brian Parkinson recently opened a shop on Bonanzle and Etsy. Brian and Gary are fairly new collectors when compared with the rest of us, but that does not mean they are novice by any definition. And like I warned them months ago, they already have extra jars. We get to benefit from their numerous finds in the Southern California area.

The forums are getting to be a busy place for collectors with folks posting pictures, asking questions, doing polls and talking about fakes.
It only takes a few moments to register, so come on over the join the conversations.
