Volume XIV #3
March 2010
Crumbs from my jar . . .
Does it count as a new addition to the collection when I find a jar I haven't seen
in years? I think it should! We have three attic spaces (yeah, I know) and I haven't been in one since
Jim moved out years ago and I moved his extra belongings in there. Well I ventured in yesterday, lo and behold there is a small box there, I open
it up and it's the Sigma Panda Chef jar. Why was it in there? I have no idea.
I did remember I had it, maybe Jim put it in there and really wants the jar? I just might send it to him (evil grin).
And a special note to a favorite subscriber:
Happy Birthday Norma Winton! Hope your day is terrific!

~SHARE YOUR STUFF~
The Collectibles web site has a new feature that I would like to get more use out of. It's a Show and Tell!
Now you can share pictures of your collections and displays. If you are not a Forum member you will have to
register,
but it only takes a minute or two. If you already belong to the Forum - you're good to go. Share a picture or two
of your favorite jars, displays, or other collections.
As an added incentive, anyone who submits an entry because of reading it here
will have a chance to win a cookie jar or reference book. It will be your choice!
The deadline for the giveaway will be April 1. (No Joke!)

~RICK WISECARVER~
Rick Wisecarver worked as both a potter and painter, with his depictions of American
Indians on vases often the most sought-after pieces. Although he is best-known
for his art pottery, cookie jars featuring black memorabilia and fairy tale
themes were also a popular subject.

~A CATASTROPHE~
From Bill F: "I am in a catastrophe mode at this time. and I need your help. President's Day I decided to start my spring cleaning early so I could work outside when the weather gets warmer. I was brushing the cob-webs from around the fireplace in the Den.
I hit the mirror over the fireplace and it fell onto the mantel."

~TOBACCO JAR OR COOKIE JAR?~
Ever seen a jar listed on eBay as a cookie jar that had you scratching your head? And even after perusing your extensive library of cookie jar books you still couldn't identify the jar? More than likely, the jar you were looking at was a humidor or tobacco jar, as they are more commonly known.
