Crumbs from my jar . . .

Not that I'm counting . . . but it's 58 days to Halloween and I don't have a single Halloween jar on display yet. Frontgate/Grandin Road has some fun looking jars for Halloween (see link below), if you know of any other online new Halloween jars, please let me know. Offline - tell me where you found them.

As to other holiday jars -- I am majorly bummed out - apparently I missed a BIN on eBay for one of my Holy Grail jars, the American Bisque Rudolph! Read more below!

Are you a collector with most of the books, but have a jar you just can't identify? I'm not talking about newer or recent jars, but one that is apparently old, but just can't figure out what it is? Send a picture along and it will be posted in the next newsletters, as time and space allows.

One more thing - if you're interested in a Metlox Little Red Riding Hood, I've been contacted by someone who is interested in selling one she's had for over 15 years. I asked her to put it in the About Forums - so check it out there later today.

until next time,

~NEW HALLOWEEN JARS~
If you love Halloween, browsing through the Grandin Road catalog or web site is a spooky treat for sure. The prices can range from reasonable to high - but there are loads of ideas that can inspire you to get the same effect on your own.

I was surprised to find three Halloween jars on their web site, ones that were not in the print catalog. I'm not in the market for any new jars this year, but the witch is particularly appealing and might convince me to change my mind. We'll see!

~NEGATHA PETERSON~
Brian's newest quest is Negatha Peterson pottery. In the course of researching the pottery and jars, Brian also had the chance to chat with Negatha, interviewing her for an article. In the course of the research, he has acquired loads of images of Negatha's jars. Watch for a gallery to go up soon -- as soon as I get all the editing done! Meanwhile enjoy his article!

~NEW INSURANCE RULES ON EBAY~
Without question, if you are buying or selling a cookie jar on eBay, insurance is a must! But that's not always been an eBay rule. Looks like eBay is changing the rules again and insurance is always required, unfortunately there are times when it doesn't always make sense. Read more from Joyce on the Forums and don't be shy about giving your two cents.

~$10. TREASURE~
Cookie jar collector Larry recently sent me a picture of a jar he found at a flea market for $10. The jar is perfect and just proves that bargains can still be found. I remember when this jar was very sought after and people would pay anywhere up to $400. for it. I love this comment that Larry made in his note to me -- "My jar is perfect pings so pretty".

~WHAT'S YOUR HOLY GRAIL JAR?~
As I mentioned above, I was bummed out that I missed one of my Holy Grail jars that was offered on a BIN on eBay a few weeks ago. So I'm sharing my Holy Grails in the forums, just in case you know of one or can help. Meanwhile, please share the jars you've been looking for too. Who knows someone may have one they're willing to sell.. Can't hurt, right?

~MORE PENQUINS~
Nancy A. found a new Penguin jar at Cracker Barrel in August. Looks like they are already putting out their Holiday stuff. I also saw a cornucopia piece there several months ago that could pass for a jar.

From Last Issue:

~YES YOU READ TO THE BOTTOM~
I was amazed, surprised and humbled by all the folks who responded to the comment on the bottom of last issue's newsletter. It was amazing hearing from folks who have been "with me" since the beginning and I hope to respond to folks over the next few weeks. Everytime a new email came, it was a flood of memories and smiles. There were so many responses I decided to give away three gifts. Winners will have to wait a few weeks for the gifts, as I am waiting for something to arrive that I want to include. Meanwhile I picked three completely random emails, if your name is included, please send me your snail mail address. Patricia DiNunno, Rich Clark (remember him??), and Bunny Atkins. Congrats to the winners and thanks to everyone for responding. Watch for new giveaways over the next few months.

~FAKES ON EBAY~
This problem has been ongoing for as many years as eBay has been in existence. I know when I bought my very first jar on eBay, a California Original Count, I was worried it was a fake until I actually had the jar in my hands. There is an ongoing thread on the Collectibles Forums about cookie jar fakes. Brian is doing a terrific job with it, but it would be great if others could pop in and add their sightings as well. OR if you have a question stop by and ask a question - we'll do our best to help out.
